TTL FCE Evaluation FAQ

Common evaluation administration and reporting.questions.

1. How are the calculated lift results generated?

-"typically there is more of a gap between occasional (1-33% of workday) and frequent (34-66% of workday) lifting ability.  Frequent lifting typically is 50-70% of occasional lifting ability unless there is documentation that occasional ability was self limited.  For each of your FCE samples, the frequent lifting ability listed as 95% of occasional ability. Why?"

2. Why does the calculated work capacity indicate a higher than expected ability level when the patient has demonstrated notable difficulty during one or more non-lift activities?

"For this FCE sample, the individual was noted as classified in the Medium level but then it was noted that he actually has a more significant level of overall imparement due to limitations observed during other activities.  Why is the classification Medium?"

"If the patient was unable to stand more than an occasional basis – he would not be able to tolerate standing to the extent of lifting anything on a frequent basis. How was his frequent lifting ability rated as 21-22#?"

3. Why does the report say a patient can work at a level even though the notes say they demonstrated trouble?
